FAQ

Short answers to the questions Document A expects a new user to ask.

Do I need a radio?

No. HamLink Mail works over the internet like ordinary email. Radio is an additional capability when you have an Agent and compatible equipment.

Do I pick a gateway?

Not for ordinary use. HamLink selects internet, radio-to-gateway, relay store-and-forward, or local queue automatically.

Can I email Gmail or Yahoo?

Yes, where technically and legally appropriate. External internet email only enters the public internet after an authorized HamLink path (including a gateway when the sender is offline).

What if nothing is reachable?

The message is queued locally. When internet or a radio route returns, retry or automatic continuation can move it again.

Are attachments different on radio?

Yes. Radio bandwidth is limited. Small text may travel on the air; large files and many images are marked Internet Required.
